New Aldi Salford Quays store is open

Aldi, the UK’s cheapest supermarket and award-winning food retailer, has opened its new Salford Quays store, at the corner of Trafford Road and Phoebe Street. The site, previously occupied by a Morrisons food store, has been vacant for several years and has been brought back into use for the local community.

Customers were invited to attend the grand opening of the store by British Bronze Medallist Lewis Richardson, and other local guests. The first 30 customers received a free bag of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s award-winning Super 6 range.

The new store opens following engagement between Aldi and Salford City Council’s Skills and Work team with the store underscoring Aldi’s commitment to supporting growth and regeneration in Salford and protecting access to essential services for local residents. The proposals will also contribute to the significant investment planned for Ordsall and Salford Quays, ensuring residents can continue to access a low-cost, high-quality discount retailer for years to come.

In line with Aldi’s ongoing commitment to being a good neighbour, recruitment for these roles has been targeted at the local community, recognising the role food stores play as community hubs, and the importance of community-driven employment.

We’re excited to have completed work at site and our store team look forward to welcoming the first customers through the door on Thursday 28th May.”
