Apprenticeships

Two young men looking at a plan in an office

Apprenticeships in Salford are a great way to build your career while getting hands-on experience and earning a wage. Whether you're changing career paths, or want to develop new skills, an apprenticeship lets you learn from the experts in your field and gain nationally recognised qualifications at the same time.

Apprenticeships combine real-world work experience with off-the-job training.

You'll spend most of your time with an employer, learning on the job, and the rest completing online or classroom-based learning through a training provider. They typically last between one and four years, depending on the level.

Apprenticeship levels explained:

  • Intermediate (Level 2): equivalent to GCSEs and tend to be in entry-level roles
  • Advanced (Level 3): equivalent to A-levels and great if you already have some experience or qualifications
  • Higher (Level 4 and 5): equivalent to a foundation degree and perfect for those looking to step into management or specialist roles
  • Degree (Level 6 and 7): earn a full bachelor’s or master’s degree apprenticeship while working
